Q: So what is Zazz?
A: Zazz is a very cool but somewhat kooky internet-based store that only sells one item a day, at a large quantity. And just like Cinderella, once midnight comes around the produuct's gone and won't be available again (unless we decide to relist it again some time in the future). However a lot of our thingies don't even make it to midnight as they sell out way before then. So you gotta be quick!
But even though a sale may end prematurely, there's still lots of stuff to see and do on the site. You can hang out with other members on the forums, check out some of our funny pages in the general forum section or enter some of our competitions. BUT our new item won't be available for sale until midnight the next day.
Q: That's ridiculous. Why would you do something as mental as selling just one thing a day?
A: Well I did say that we were a little bit kooky, didn't I? Seriously though, it's all about the essence of keeping the place fresh! I mean, who wants to go to some store and see the same old things just sitting there collecting dust, right? And don't tell me it isn't cool just waiting to see what we're going to do next. You know it is!
Q: What if I don't want to buy the thingy straight away? What if I want to have a think about it? Is there any way to tell if it's going to last till midnight?
A: Hmm, well not really. Let's say this though: if you want it, don't take too long to think about it buy because there may not be a hell of a lot of the thingy's left from the amount we started with. BUT we're not totally unreasonable and we'll give you a little hint when we're nearing sell-out on the main screen. Here's a tip for you – If the "gimme gimme" sign starts flashing, then you better hurry up!
Q: Zazz sounds an awful lot like impulse buying at its finest?
A: Yep, I guess that's true!!! You're not really gonna NEED a lot of the stuff we have on here. But you'll most probably WANT it!!! Think about it though – most of the things you want in life you don't really need anyway. But who cares, air and water are things that you need but are they cool? NO!
Q: What's the deal with shipping?
A: Well, we'd love to beam you your stuff like in Star Trek or Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory but sadly that ain't gonna happen. But we do show the shipping prices on the front page - so you'll never get a 'hidden extra' added to the selling price. We usually offer discounted shipping on multiple items as well. You'll know about that if you look in the product specs or check in the options menu after you click the "Gimme" sign and enter the checkout process.
Q: Is there any way I can find out what's gonna be on Zazz each day?
A: YES!!! And NO!!! Right now there's around five ways to get the inside info:
- You can come to the site and see for yourself from midnight- that's fairly easy!
- You can sign up for the daily email - it tells you what's on, shows you a picture and gives you a brief description. Just go to 'my account' and click the subscription box at the bottom of the page!
- You can add the product RSS feed ( www.zazz.com.au/rss-products.xml ) to your RSS aggregator
- You can join Twitter and get our SMS updates!
- You can also join our facebook account for some extra info!!!
Q: With the email - it never arrives at my hotmail address?
A: Yeah, we've heard about this one and you'll be glad to know you ain't the only one. Here's how you put Zazz in your safe list, so the daily emails will come back:
- Open your Hotmail mailbox
- Click the Options link, on the main menu tabs, then Junk E-Mail Protection link, then Safe List.
- Type zazz.com.au domains or our From: Addresses in your Safe List.
- Alternately, if you see one of our emails in your Junk Mail folder, click 'This is not Junk Mail' to avoid having email from the same source sent to the Junk Mail folder in the future.
Q: How do I pay for my stuff?
A: You can either use Visa or Mastercard or PayPal and nothing else. Sorry, but that means no AMEX or Diners :(
The credit card tansactions are processed by St.George Bank, whose credit card verification system is 100% safe. The only drawback from this (if you can consider it one) is that you'll need to enter your credit information every time you make a purchase, cause we don't store any credit information on the site.
The PayPal transactions are processed by PayPal services. With PayPal, you can use your Bank account as well to pay for your purchases.
Q: What about other means of payment? I don't have a credit card or PayPal account.
A: Well, because of the way Zazz works we need a payment system that gives us immediate confirmation of your payment. The only suggestion we can besides getting a credit card is getting a Visa/Mastercard debit card from one of the major Australian banks. It's like having a credit card . . . but without the credit.
You can also get a pre-paid card from most convenience stores that will work. Here's a link to where you can get the pre-paid ones in case you don't know . . . prepaidshop.com.au
Q: I can't get past the address screen in the checkout process – what gives?
A: Well nothing! Our shopping cart program verifies suburbs and postcodes dynamically and won't let you pay for your stuff until it's sure it's going to the correct area. If there's no "continue" button at any point of the checkout process - you need to click "change address" and fix it up to continue. If you happen to misspell your street or name, you're a dill and we can't help you. OK, we can, but if your thingy comes back to the warehouse marked "return to sender", we'll advise you and resend it. But if you don't update your shipping details after we've notified you, then you'll have to pay the return costs next time around.
Q: What happens if my item sucks? Like, I thought it'd be cool but it turns out it's really a piece of crap.
A: Hmm well I'd start by saying that I would be pretty surprised. I mean we're a pretty progressive bunch of dudes at Zazz and we'd only sell stuff that WE would want ourselves. But really, our sales pages are pretty comprehensive. We've got great product pics, sometimes videos and links to the suppliers websites. And our product specs are quite comprehensive so you should most definitely know what you're getting. So if you don't think you really want something, don't buy it.
Otherwise, I'd say give eBay a whirl 'cause you could even make a profit from the stuff you get from us. Or the Trading Post even. Doesn't really matter but our stuff is very resellable if you don't want it. Aside from that we have a swap page on the forum so you could also give that a whirl. You might want to try there first and see if anyone is looking for your item . . . You might also see something else you wanted but missed out on!
Q: But what if the item doesn't just suck? What if it's actually broken?
A: If your item is within warranty (check the specs page for each item) you can email the super awesome Mr Nice Guy at MrNiceGuy@zazz.com.au and he'll give you details on how to get your item back to us. We'll try our best to replace it for you, but if we can't then a full refund will be processed back to your credit card. Either way we'll look after you. But if the warranty period has expired then it may be a case of no more Mr Nice Guy as his hands will be tied!!! But you've usually got at least twelve months with most things on Zazz, so you're pretty well covered.
Q: What if my batteries run out?
A: OK . . . Well, we can't guarantee that the batteries won't need changing. Give us a break! But we'll make you a deal, OK - if your thingy's batteries are kaput within the first week then yes, we'll look after you. But if it comes with a built-in rechargeable battery, it's covered by the product warranty. Fair enough? I told you we were reasonable dudes here!!!
Q: Okay, let's say I need to talk to someone about Zazz for some reason besides my item sucking, how do I go about THAT?
A: Well, you can always use the forums. We're almost always on there to answer any questions about Zazz stuff and life in general!!! We have a whole bunch of awesome members in the community who will give you advice on just about anything. For really serious questions though you're probably better off emailing us. Click the "Contact Zazz" section in the menu bar and find the email address that suits the question you have.
Q: OK, you're right, Zazz is awesome . . . How do I join?
A: Easy!!! There are two blazingly obvious text-fields on the left panel of the main page that you use to log in once you've registered. Just above them is a link with the words "Start here". Fill in the registration form and you're in! All and sundry are welcome at Zazz and you may as well join up cause it's free and there aren't a hell of a lot of free things floating around society these days!!!
Q: What's the deal with the forums? Please explain!!!
A: We love our forums and there's a lot to them really. Basically you can talk about the Zazz of the day or past zazz'm. You can chat with people about almost anything and there's lots of competitions and cool prizes to be won by participating!!! You can also find some really interesting and amusing things in the general forums like 'Ben's corner' and some of Mr Nice Guy's zany collection of random and nutty things.
I guess the only thing we don't like you talking about is other "competitor" sites - irrespective of whether your comment is negative OR positive. There are other places you can do that and we really want the forums to be fun and informative. It's not our style to give a continental about what's going on elsewhere really!!! Other than that I guess try and be nice, keep it relatively clean and all should be good.
Q: Okay, so I heard that every man and his dog has a blog these days. Does Zazz have one?
A: Hell Yeah! Mr Nice Guy writes his wacky blogs every week. There's not really any logic to the stuff he comes up with and more often than not they've got absolutely no relevance to what's going on at Zazz!!! He loves writing about random thoughts and experiences and he'll quite often ask other Zazzers for their opinions or similar stories they have and he also loves giving prizes out to his readers!!! Occasionally, he'll give you a little slice of Zazz life with some behind the scenes stuff too. There's even Nice Guy video blogs from time to time. But do yourself a favour and check out the blogs . . . they rock!!!
Q: Can I get a discount if I buy more than one of an item?
A: Not as such :( But, more often than not, the shipping for additional items will be less than the initial item so it will ultimately be a little bit cheaper.
Q: Right. Well ... anyway, where are you located?
A: We're located in a little city by the mighty Yarra river. You might have heard of it: Melbourne. (Why live anywhere else?)
