Joey Shabazinger grew up wanting to be a rock god. His dream was always to be in a band with Eddie Van Halen and they were going to be two of the most badass guitar legends in the whole wide world.
Joey practiced until he was good enough to get some gigs in his local Sizzler restaurant. He would really rip it up at that joint and was always rewarded with a generous "surf & turf" platter for his efforts... If only he could have gotten his music out to a wider audience, the Van Halen dream would have been well and truly alive.
But then everything changed for Joey when he was discovered by the smooth talking Noah Van Chrumstein who just happened to be the chief executive of Halabaladingdong Records. Noah personally knew Eddie Van Halen and was excited to organize a meeting. He handed Joey an experimental device called a "USB Guitar Link" and told Joey to go home and record a demo tape.
This Guitar Link was just like a sound card and it allowed Joey to record and play his axe directly through his computer. He could play over various modeling amps and effects, could record indoors or outdoors and could use it with some of the most sophisticated and professional guitar and studio software on the market. All he had to do was connect it to his computer's USB port, install the software and plug in his guitar. He could even use headphones if he wanted to! In fact it practically turned his room into his very own recording studio.
Over a period of two weeks Joey never left his room. He survived on a diet of Striker Salami Sticks, tobacco and Tang. Unfortunately somewhere along the line, his diet got the better of him and he suffered an intense seizure. It was thought that salmonella or tobacco overload was the culprit but nobody could really be sure. And whilst Joey managed to recover he never played the guitar again.
However his demo tape was recorded and so impressed was Eddie Van Halen that the demo is to be used as the blueprint for the soon to be released Van Halen comeback album "Krabscoobenz"which will be with the original David Lee Roth line up.
