His name was Roger, but they all called him The Librarian.
He had the biggest VHS tape collection of anybody - two whole walls of labeled, sorted and cataloged cassettes, stacked on custom-built hardwood shelves - which he had amassed over many years. Every TV series was complete, every movie uncut. It was the ultimate in on-demand entertainment!
He'd invested thousands of hours in amassing his collection, and everyone (well, all HIS mates anyway) agreed it was time well spent. After all, it seemed like it would last forever...
As the years have stretched into decades, time has marched right on past the old video recorder. And like Roger and his mates, the tapes are starting to show signs of age. (turns out you're lucky to get 10-15 years out of even the best brands of cassette!)
Roger ignored the problem for as long as he could. But the devastating day finally came when he sat down to watch the very first episode of "Bosom Buddies" and could no longer tell the difference between Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari on the screen!
Clearly, something had to be done. He considered a set-top DVD recorder, but the pricetag would have wiped out his beer budget for weeks - a complete non-starter there! What good is being able to see a show like "Bosom Buddies" if you're SOBER?
But the EasyCap Video Grabber turned out to be the solution he so desperately needed. It just plugs into a USB port, and from there he can grab any incoming video signal via the A/V or S-VHS plugs (with stereo audio, for the more recent tapes...) and get it onto his computer.
At first he put everything onto his hard drive, which was fine for the first few dozen tapes, but eventually he learned the value of the best feature of the EasyCap - direct-to-DVD recording! Blank DVDs are cheaper than videotapes ever were, and potentially last much longer.
Not only has he got his collection back into shape, and taking up less space than ever before, but it gave him a chance to watch all the great (and not-so-great) old shows he'd just forgotten about on the shelves over the years.
Plus he dug out his old home movies and sent discs to his family, who'd all abandoned their VCRs ages ago. Now they too had a reason to appreciate The Librarian once again...
Better grab yours now - they won't be here tomorrow!
